Venice Glass Week 2025

We are delighted to announce that our work has been selected to participate in the ninth edition of The Venice Glass Week HUB Under35.

On this occasion, we will be presenting two remarkable artworks created by Rezzan Hasoğlu in collaboration with Charlie Macpherson. These glass vessels, crafted with volcanic sand and ash from Eyjafjallajökull combined with traditional glass making techniques, evoke the qualities of geological relics.

The works draw on the artist’s research into historic Ottoman glassmaking methods while exploring the natural materials from Iceland. Their unique textures encourage reflection on memory, material and the impact of environmental change.

This exhibition is kindly supported by the @britishcouncil Festivals Grant.

Dates: 13 - 21 September 2025

Venue: The Venice Glass Week HUB Under35, Istituzione Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, Galleria di Piazza San Marco

The Qerndu Gallery (G7) features nordic landscape photographic prints in the main tent.

Our glass vessel is part of the exhibition. It is infused with volcanic ash from Eyjafjallajökull and volcanic sand from Snæfellsjökull.

These locations are also where the photographs were taken from and are connected to climate change.

Crossing Paths and New Design Languages

London Design Festival 2024

Thank you for visiting our exhibition at the London Design Festival. We are happy to showcase four designers - ESMEZ, Studio Sahil, Studio_Pangaea (Ayşe E. Coşkun) and Miskes (Kätlin Lõbu) - who push the boundaries of glass, ceramics, textiles, and jewellery through material experimentation and conceptual research.

This exhibition is a journey into texture exploration, featuring hand- made pieces that embody slow design, emphasizing time, care, and attention to detail. Unique items, each bearing elements of human touch with contemporary design. From ethereal glass sculptures to tactile ceramic forms, linen patchwork jackets, and intricate jewellery, these works explore conventional notions of form and function. Witness how visionary artists transform raw materials into captivating design. Explore the evolving landscape of contemporary processes where design methods converge in fascinating and unexpected ways.

Coastal Myths

London Design Festival 2022 (20th Anniversary)

The exhibition Coastal Myths by Studio Sahil curated by Open Space explores the day to day objects consisting predominantly of glass that one encounters through stories, myths and connections relating to the island.

The word “sahil” from Studio Sahil is directly translated from Turkish to coast or shore, which is a key reference to the exhibition. Islands have always held a significant place in popular imagination and mythology, with everything from The Odyssey, Shakespeare’s The Tempest and Treasure Island to Elif Safak’s most recent fiction The Island of Missing Trees, all contributing to the idea that these sea-bound lands have more to their stories. By experimenting with materiality, tactility and texture, the studio creates beautiful timeless objects that explore different narratives around belonging, place and cultural heritage.
